About Me – Anna Sklar – Here’s a peek at my bio:
This is my wonderful family:
- Anna – me
- Elijah – my 5-year-old son
- Joshua – my husband since 1999 – an Associate Pastor at All Nations Church in Sudbury, ON
- Josiah – my 8-year-old son
- There’s one son missing – our middle son, Caleb Joshua Freedom Sklar – he was stillborn in May 2003
I completed a diploma in Environmental Protection at Centennial College, and took additional university courses in both Science and Theology. I love to research and write, and connect people to each other and to God. Recently I wrote a small book called Discovering Hope: Sharing the Journey of Healing After Miscarriage, Stillbirth or Infant Loss, and I am waiting for the outcome of possible publication.
And now About The Family Forum:
This is an idea has been growing in me for a few years, and has finally come to fruition. I wanted a place on the web where I could gather and offer resources to families that would encourage them in their many roles.
I love to write, and I love to put together newsletters. I love to research for resources that will benefit my family. And I love to share it all with others.
Originally I began reaching out to families through moms in particular. I started a mom’s group in my home in the fall of 2005, then moved the group over to my church in fall 2006 so we could have more space. I created the Mom’s Moments newsletter in October 2006 and mailed it out to 12 women. A friend came alongside me soon after the newsletter started and together we grew an online ministry that reaches out to hundreds of women. I stepped down from my editing role in June 2009, and continued to write for the newsletter until June 2010. The call to reach out to the entire family, and not solely moms, has grown in me and I am excited to pursue that passion and see where God leads.
I created The Family Forum newsletter and started publishing it on a monthly basis starting in September 2010. This newsletter encourages families in the areas of Building Community, Health, Finances, Marriage, Faith At Home, Reaching Out, and gives ideas for other fun activities for the family. If you are interested in subscribing to the newsletter, or sending in a submission, or reprinting an article, please Contact Us!
I also created thefamilyforum.ca website. There are so many links and resources on this site, and it is always growing! I have also included a Store on the website to share books, CDs, DVDs, and other items that have been very helpful to my family or other trusted individuals.
This website is a work in progress that began in August 2010. There is much more to do and I will work on it as best I can while raising my two young boys!
